A delegation of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders from Yobe South has appealed to President Bola Tinubu, alleging that their zone has been sidelined in recent federal appointments.

Led by party chieftain Sambo Kakawa, the group visited the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday to protest what they described as a “glaring imbalance in the distribution of appointments” from Yobe State.

Kakawa argued that despite Yobe South’s significant electoral contribution, the zone has been left out while Yobe East and Yobe North have benefitted with ministerial slots, directors-general, executive secretaries, and board positions.

“In politics, population and majority votes are key considerations for leaders. We hope President Tinubu will heed the voice of the majority people of Yobe South, recognising their contribution to the state’s population and electoral strength, and consider their aspirations for representation,” he said.

The group warned that continued neglect of the zone could undermine the APC’s chances in the 2027 elections.

They also recommended Haruna Sardauna, a Yobe South indigene and Director-General of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, for appointment as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs.

The stakeholders further urged Governor Mai Mala Buni to intervene, while some State House officials who received the delegation assured them that their grievances would be reviewed.
