At the 2025 policy meeting held by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), university heads agreed on a minimum admission cutoff score of 150 for the year’s intake.
This decision implies that no university in Nigeria will be allowed to admit candidates who score below 150 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Nonetheless, some universities—including the University of Ibadan, Pan-Atlantic University, and the University of Lagos—have opted for higher cut-off marks, setting theirs at 200.
According to The PUNCH, some newly established private universities put forward a proposed UTME cut-off score of 120.
However, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, recommended a minimum benchmark of 160 instead.
