Tinubu Hints at Support for Soludo’s Second-Term Ambition, Praises 20-Year Friendship
President Bola Tinubu has hinted at what many see as an endorsement of Anambra State Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid, pledging that the two will continue working closely together.
Tinubu described Soludo as a “good friend of over two decades,” a sentiment he had also expressed during a previous visit to Awka.
Governor Soludo visited the Aso Villa on Tuesday and later told State House Correspondents that he and the president had a “robust conversation” touching on the economy, security, and other national issues. He, however, declined to go into the details of their private discussions.

On Wednesday, Tinubu took to his verified Facebook page to confirm the meeting and elaborate on their shared views, further fueling speculation of his backing for Soludo’s second-term aspirations.
“It was a pleasure to welcome my friend of over two decades and the Governor of Anambra State, Governor Charles Soludo, to the Aso Villa yesterday.
We discussed the bold reforms underway, the need to stay the course, and the importance of tackling insecurity through both decisive action and inclusive opportunities for our teeming youth,” Tinubu wrote.
The president emphasized that both leaders share a firm belief in progressivism and the need to collaborate in deepening democracy, enhancing security, and transforming the economy.
“Our administration will continue to partner with every state that is serious about human, social, and economic development because Nigeria’s progress is strongest when we work together,” he added.
Soludo, who has been governor since 2022, is widely expected to seek a second term, and Tinubu’s remarks are already being interpreted in political circles as a significant show of support.
