Tambuwal: Tinubu Lacks Understanding of Nigeria’s Federal System

Senator Aminu Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, has criticised President Bola Tinubu, claiming the president lacks the depth and knowledge required to effectively govern Nigeria.

Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, the former governor of Sokoto State faulted Tinubu’s leadership style, particularly the delay in appointing ambassadors nearly two years into his administration.

Tambuwal argued that Tinubu’s political background, shaped largely in Lagos, limited his exposure to federal governance.

“With due respect, Tinubu has always been confined to the local environment of Lagos and has never been a federal operator,” Tambuwal said.

“He does not understand the federal system. Up till now, we don’t have ambassadors. Almost two years and three months into the administration, what does that tell you?”

The lawmaker went further to say that Tinubu lacks not only governance skills but also an adequate grasp of Nigeria’s diverse fabric.

“Tinubu lacks the knowledge of Nigeria as a country—its structure, its diversity, and its needs,” he added.

Tambuwal’s remarks come amid growing debates over the pace and direction of Tinubu’s policies, as critics question his ability to balance governance with Nigeria’s complex federal framework.
