Security operatives in Kogi State have successfully rescued the district head of Bagaji Odo in Omala Local Government Area, David Akpa, days after he was abducted.

The state police spokesperson, SP Williams Ovye-Aya, confirmed the development in a statement released Thursday in Lokoja.

Akpa was kidnapped on Monday in the Ojuwo Ugweche community while returning from a traditional council meeting in Abejukolo, the Omala LGA headquarters.

According to Ovye-Aya, a joint team comprising the police, the Nigerian Army, local hunters, and vigilantes launched an operation that led to the monarch’s safe rescue from a forest hideout. “The traditional ruler was rescued unhurt and will soon be reunited with his family,” he said.
