Police bust ESN cell in Imo, recover arms

The Imo State Police Command says it has arrested 16 suspected members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) accused of terrorising communities in Oguta, Njaba, and Mbaitoli LGAs.

Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma disclosed this during a press briefing on Friday, noting that the arrests followed a raid on an IPOB/ESN camp in Oguta LGA on Tuesday.

According to him, the suspects engaged operatives in a fierce gun battle but were subdued by superior firepower.

Those arrested included alleged sub-commanders Uzoechi Okechukwu and Paschal Igbuogwu.

Items recovered from the camp include two AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, 375 rounds of ammunition, IPOB/ESN flags, and charms.
