Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have begun an intensive search for a notorious bandit leader, Alhaji Muhammed Sule (aka MP), who has been terrorizing Rawaya village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed in a weekly military briefing that Sule is a dangerous terror kingpin linked to a deadly Islamist terrorist group. The manhunt follows a recent raid on his residence where troops recovered a cache of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, a revolver, six magazines, and 1,202 rounds of live ammunition.

Gen. Kangye noted that intelligence reports tie Sule to multiple attacks in the area, resulting in hundreds of civilian deaths and the rustling of thousands of cattle.

“On 19 October 2025, during a planned raid, troops searched the residence of Alhaji Muhammed Sule in Rawaya village. No contact was made with the suspect, but the weapons found are now secured, and the search for him continues,” he said.

“Troops conducted operations in Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Jos North, Riyom, Jos East, and Mangu LGAs of Plateau State, as well as Zangon Kataf, Jama’a, Kaura in Kaduna State, and Tafawa Balewa in Bauchi State. During these engagements, some extremists were killed, 24 were captured, and three kidnapped victims were rescued. Weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and vehicles were also recovered,” Gen. Kangye stated.

The military affirmed that operations remain ongoing as security forces continue to pursue Sule and dismantle terror networks in the region.
