The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of three unions at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State, has petitioned Governor Seyi Makinde over what it described as the prolonged delay in appointing substantive principal officers for the institution.
In a letter addressed to the governor and copied to key government officials, including the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, Chief of Staff Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, and Commissioner for Education Hon. Segun Olayiwola, JAC expressed concern that the institution has operated under acting management for the past seven years, a situation it described as alien to the Polytechnic Acts.
The petition was jointly signed by union leaders Com. Adeboje Taiwo, Com. Titiloye Joseph, Com. Jayeola Titus, Com. Olayanju Abiodun, Com. Ojenike Olusola, and Com. Lala Tunde.
JAC acknowledged the governor’s efforts in repositioning the polytechnic but strongly condemned the continued delay in the appointment of substantive Rector, Registrar, Bursar, and Librarian, noting that it undermines the institution’s stability and growth.
“The Governor graciously appointed a seasoned administrator, Professor Adebiyi Kazeem, to redeem the long-lost image of the institution. The Governing Council under his leadership advertised the positions, concluded the recruitment process, and recommended qualified candidates. The exercise ended on July 27, 2025,” the letter read in part.
The unions pointed out that the selection process has been completed three times, with significant resources spent each time, yet the appointments remain unannounced.

They appealed to Governor Makinde to approve and announce the recommended candidates without further delay, emphasizing that this step is crucial to restoring effective leadership at the institution.
JAC also commended the recent release of additional subventions to the polytechnic, which it said helped ease salary augmentation pressures.
“The unions count on His Excellency not to further delay the announcement. As stakeholders, we will continue to guarantee industrial harmony while looking forward to meeting the substantive officers very soon,” the statement concluded.
