The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has refuted claims that the Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order restraining former Senate President David Mark and ex-Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola from acting as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary.

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, clarified that no such restraining order was granted.

Abdullahi explained that Justice Emeka Nwite, in a ruling delivered on September 4, 2025, rejected an ex-parte application filed by Nafiu Bala Gombe. Instead, the court directed that the defendants be put on notice and appear to show cause before adjourning the matter to September 15, 2025.

Describing the viral report as the work of “desperate political jobbers” dissatisfied with INEC’s decision, the ADC urged the media and public to verify claims before circulation.

“Contrary to some misleading publications, the court did not issue any order restraining Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from functioning as National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC,” the statement read in part.
