New Era in Benue Assembly as Leadership Changes Hands

The Benue State House of Assembly has dissolved its former leadership structure and appointed a fresh set of principal officers to key positions.

According to a statement released on Thursday, September 11, 2025, by Zape Michael Upaa, Press Secretary to the Speaker, Thomas Dugeri has been named Majority Leader, with Abraham Jabi stepping in as Deputy Majority Leader.

Other appointments include Cyril Ikong as Majority Chief Whip and Simon Gabo as Deputy Majority Whip.

On the minority side, Abu Umoro is the new Minority Leader, while Cephase Dyako takes on the role of Deputy Minority Leader. Samuel Jiji has been appointed Minority Whip, with Moses Egbodo serving as Deputy Minority Whip.

The Assembly noted that further details regarding the reorganisation will be announced in due course.
