VeryDarkMan Slams Soso Soberekon Over Boxing Match Proposal With Portable
Controversial social media personality, VeryDarkMan, has called out music executive Soso Soberekon, accusing him of being disrespectful.
His reaction comes in response to Soberekon’s recent suggestion of a boxing match between him and street-pop singer Portable.
According to DAILY POST, Soso Soberekon proposed a N120 million prize for the bout, aiming to capitalize on the heated back-and-forth currently playing out online between the two entertainers.
VeryDarkMan, however, dismissed the offer, taking offense at what he described as a belittling move by the music mogul.
Controversial social media figure, VeryDarkMan, has strongly criticized music executive Soso Soberekon, accusing him of disrespect over a proposed celebrity boxing match.
The backlash came after Soberekon offered ₦120 million for a potential fight between VeryDarkMan and street-pop artist Portable, following their ongoing social media feud.
In a video posted to Instagram on Sunday evening, VeryDarkMan dismissed the offer as insulting, claiming it fell far below his value. He revealed that he had previously turned down a $100,000 offer to fight American rapper 50 Cent, demanding a $1 million payout instead.
“Let me quickly respond to Soso Soberekon for this insult,” he began in the video. “Last year, I was set for what would have been Africa’s biggest fight—me versus 50 Cent. You can confirm this from the president of the boxing federation, Omo-Agege, or ask Tunde Ednut who was involved in the planning. 50 Cent wanted $2 million upfront from a $5 million total. They offered me $100,000 and I said no—if he’s getting $5 million, I’m worth at least $1 million.”
He added that another deal was discussed earlier this year after returning from China, but again, the figures didn’t meet his expectations.
Turning his attention to Soso Soberekon’s proposal, VeryDarkMan said, “Offering me ₦100 million is a joke. Do you know how much I’ve spent on charity lately? That can’t even buy a decent house in Abuja. If you want to insult me, just say it outright.”
He concluded by demanding a $500,000 upfront payment before even sitting down to negotiate a fight purse, warning Soberekon not to associate his name with the proposal again unless he can match that figure.
