The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the arrest of five suspects linked to alleged criminal conspiracy, abetment, and the possession of motorcycles believed to have been procured to support banditry in the state.

Police described the arrests, carried out on September 19, 2025, as a significant breakthrough in ongoing security operations. The operation was led by Kamba Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Bello Lawal, working alongside a joint patrol of officers and local vigilantes.

In a statement issued on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Nafiu Abubakar identified the suspects as Saifullahi Suleiman (37), Halidu Adamu (26), Ibrahim Abubakar (37), and Sani Kabiru (22), all residents of Kamba town in Dandi Local Government Area. They were allegedly found with three Honda motorcycles — popularly called “Boko Haram motorcycles” — valued at ₦5.4 million.

According to investigators, the motorcycles were smuggled in from Benin Republic and were destined for delivery to the Lakurawa terrorist group through an accomplice based in Kangiwa town, Arewa LGA.

Abubakar further disclosed that another suspect, Mubarak Ladan (28), also of Kamba town, attempted to bribe the DPO with ₦600,000 in exchange for the release of the arrested men. He was promptly arrested, and the money was seized as evidence.

Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi to deepen investigations and track down other members of the network. He commended the Kamba DPO and vigilante team for their professionalism and urged other divisional officers to show similar commitment.

Reaffirming the command’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks across the state, Sani appealed to residents to share credible intelligence with security agencies to strengthen the fight against violent crime.
