Kebbi Govt Confirms Emir of Zuru’s Death in London

The Kebbi State Government has announced the passing of the Emir of Zuru, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd).

According to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, the respected monarch died on Saturday night in a London hospital after a period of illness. He was 81 years old.

Maj.-Gen. Sami, a retired senior military officer, is survived by four wives and seven children.

In a condolence message released on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Malam Ahmed Idris, the state government expressed deep sympathy to the Emir’s family, the Zuru Emirate Council, and the people of Kebbi State.

“The government of Kebbi State conveys its heartfelt condolences to the family of His Royal Highness, the Zuru Emirate, and the people of the state. We pray to Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus,” the statement read.

Details regarding the funeral arrangements will be announced later, the statement added.
