Kano Hisbah Calls Off TikTok Star Mai Wushirya’s Wedding

The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced the cancellation of the planned marriage between popular TikTok comedian Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira ‘Yar Guda’, following reports of disagreements and misunderstandings between the two parties.

Dr. Mujahedeen Aminuddeen Abubakar, Deputy Commander-General of Hisbah for Special Duties, explained that investigations revealed the couple had intended to marry primarily as a means to avoid an ongoing court case.

He said, “Hisbah opted to halt the marriage to prevent potential conflicts and to ensure that any future union is grounded in mutual consent and clear understanding.”

The board reportedly stepped in after the wedding plans sparked controversy on social media, with some observers suggesting that certain aspects of the proposed ceremony did not align with Islamic marriage guidelines.

Dr. Mujahedeen further noted that the board would now refer both parties back to the courts to follow the appropriate legal procedures.
