Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has dismissed claims that his administration budgeted or spent ₦18 billion on what has been described as a state-sponsored “happy hour.”
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Governor Eno clarified that his earlier remarks on “happy hour” were misinterpreted.
“My ‘happy hour’ statement was completely taken out of context. Happy Hour for me is finding time to relax after working hard.
I didn’t say it was a time for everybody to get drunk or that it would be state-sponsored,” he explained.

The governor further noted that the phrase simply referred to moments of celebration after an achievement, whether in governance, personal life, or even in church settings.
He stressed that no funds have been allocated or expended by his government for such purposes.
