Fresh Raid: Yobe Hisbah Shuts Down Illegal Spots

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has closed multiple brothels and liquor outlets in Bursari Local Government Area following an enforcement operation.

According to a statement by the Commission’s Media Assistant, Sibawaihi Ukasha Gashua, the action stems from a raid conducted on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

“Acting on legal approval granted by Judge Aliyu Hukuma of the Lower Shari’ah Court, Garin Alkali, the Commission, through its legal representative Barr. Bashehu Madu, obtained a court order to seal all premises identified as engaging in immoral and illegal activities,” the statement read.

Among the establishments closed were Uzoma Lodge, Benji, Laraba, Godiya, Helin, Nasara Lodge, and Naso Lodge, among others.

The operation was led by Sheikh Isa Ibrahim Gashua, Deputy State Commandant, Zone C, in collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other Hisbah personnel.

The Commission commended the judiciary for its prompt action and expressed gratitude to the Yobe State Government for supporting efforts to promote moral values and public safety. Residents of Garin Alkali and surrounding communities were urged to continue assisting in initiatives to maintain discipline, protect public morality, and safeguard the spiritual and social wellbeing of the populace.
