Mary Njoku Condemns Treatment of Ibom Air Passenger, Calls for Compensation

Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has criticised the handling of Comfort Emmanson, the passenger forcibly removed from an Ibom Air flight, describing the incident as a “gross violation” of the woman’s dignity.

In a post on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Njoku said she had no objection to the airline removing the passenger if necessary, but denounced the alleged stripping of Emmanson and the circulation of the footage online.

“I understand removing her from the plane—that’s not the issue. What I cannot understand is stripping her while doing so and then putting it all over the internet,” Njoku wrote.

The actress argued that trained airline and airport staff should not engage in actions that dehumanise passengers, regardless of any offence committed.

“I refuse to believe that dehumanising someone, stripping a woman naked, and broadcasting it online is part of that training,” she added.

Njoku further said Emmanson deserves compensation for the “damage done to her life and dignity.”
