Nigerian DJ and activist, Obianuju Catherine Udeh—popularly known as DJ Switch—has responded sharply to All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart Joe Igbokwe, following his criticism of her comments regarding the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari passed away in London on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after battling a prolonged illness.

In a controversial Instagram post shortly after the news broke, DJ Switch wrote: “Wow! The sweet reality of inevitability. RIP MF. One down.”

Her post sparked backlash from Igbokwe, who took to Facebook to express his outrage. He called DJ Switch “ugly and nauseating,” accused her of causing harm to Nigeria through her past activism, and claimed she “must have gone kolos,” suggesting she was mentally unstable.

DJ Switch fired back in a scathing response, accusing Igbokwe of defending a government complicit in violence against its citizens. She criticized his silence during critical national crises and called him out for targeting those who spoke up rather than those responsible for the alleged harm.

She wrote:
“The only thing more embarrassing than your spelling is thinking silence in the face of murder, hardship, and injustice is dignity. We faced bullets for justice. What did you ever face besides spell check and senility?”

Continuing her rebuke, she added:
“You watched a government murder its youth and your only outrage is that I lived to tell the story? You think my words damaged Nigeria? No, grandpa—your silence and cowardice did.”

She concluded by accusing Igbokwe of attacking survivors while enabling those in power, stating:
“You’re defending killers but attacking survivors. Don’t worry, history is writing your name in the footnotes—under failure. Imagine being so irrelevant to justice that a woman surviving Nigeria threatens your entire existence.”

The exchange has since gone viral, reigniting debates around free speech, political loyalty, and the role of public figures in shaping national narratives.
