Defection Is Kwankwaso’s Winning Bet – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has declared that it remains the most viable political platform for Rabiu Kwankwaso and his New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Spokesman Seye Oladejo, in a statement on Friday, said the party has been closely monitoring the political movements of the 2023 NNPP presidential candidate and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, amid speculations that Kwankwaso may consider returning to the APC.

“The NNPP has become little more than a regional experiment—spirited, yes, but lacking the national reach, depth, or resilience needed to thrive,” Oladejo said. “Continuing there risks wasting the loyalty of his followers.”

He emphasized that the APC, by contrast, offers a strong, inclusive, and national platform capable of amplifying Kwankwaso’s political relevance and securing his legacy.

“For a politician of Kwankwaso’s stature, only the APC provides the structure and vision necessary to achieve his ambitions,” Oladejo added.

Urging Kwankwaso to reconsider, Oladejo extended a “hand of fellowship” to him and his movement, noting that persisting with smaller parties or experimental platforms could squander political energy.

“In politics, the wise man joins the winning caravan, while the stubborn one is left behind in the dust. The APC is the natural home for Kwankwaso, his followers, and all well-meaning Nigerians,” he said.

Oladejo dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as an option, describing it as “a party of contradictions, riddled with infighting, and consumed by desperation.” He insisted that the APC is the only true national platform where ambition meets opportunity, loyalty is rewarded, and collective progress takes precedence over personal interests.

“For Kwankwaso and the NNPP, joining APC is not just the best bet—it is the only bet. PDP is a sinking ship, and other opposition parties are scattered bands of frustrated defectors,” Oladejo concluded.
