Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has dismissed reports suggesting he is positioning himself for the vice-presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Mohammed—who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum—addressed the party’s zoning debates, internal dynamics, and preparations for 2027.

“I am not stepping aside because I want to lobby for the vice presidency,” he clarified. “If by consensus of our party leaders and the presidential candidate I am chosen, I am ready. But if not, I will give my full support to whoever emerges.”

The governor also debunked claims that the PDP was considering a joint ticket pairing him with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

“I and Seyi have never discussed any arrangement about pairing. What we have talked about is working together to return power to our party, by the grace of God, so Nigerians can enjoy good governance in 2027 and beyond,” Mohammed said.
