Khamis Musa Darazo, a prominent supporter of President Bola Tinubu and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the Presidency and the party’s national leadership to act swiftly to prevent some influential members from leaving the party.
Darazo expressed concern over reports that former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, is considering leaving the APC. He described the potential defection as a major political setback for the party, both in the North and across Nigeria.
“Professor Pantami is not just a politician; he is an intellectual, reformer, and bridge-builder who has used knowledge, faith, and integrity to promote good governance and inspire young Nigerians,” Darazo said.
He also warned that several influential figures within the party are contemplating defection, urging the leadership to take immediate steps to preserve party unity and public confidence.

Darazo commended Pantami’s achievements during his tenure as a minister under former President Muhammadu Buhari, highlighting his contributions to innovation, job creation, and the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.
According to him, Pantami’s exit would weaken the APC’s intellectual base and moral image, while discouraging many young Nigerians who view him as a model of integrity and visionary leadership.
“The APC’s strength lies in unity, inclusion, and visionary leadership,” he added. “Every loyal member matters — especially someone like Professor Pantami, whose influence goes beyond party lines.”
