The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed readiness to welcome Governor Siminalayi Fubara should he decide to defect to the party.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, the party’s reinstated spokesperson, Darlington Nwauju, said Fubara would automatically assume leadership of the APC in the state if he joined.

“If I were the governor of Rivers State, on my return on Thursday, I would announce my defection to the APC. I think the governor should join us, and we would gladly receive him into our fold,” Nwauju stated.
He also commented on the administration of Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd), noting that the APC has not demanded a probe of his six-month stewardship.
Both President Bola Tinubu and the suspended governor are expected back in Nigeria on Tuesday, ahead of the official handover marking Rivers State’s return to democratic governance on Thursday.
