The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has confirmed that it has commenced negotiations with the Federal Government over its ongoing industrial action.
The disclosure was made in Strike Bulletin No. 2, issued by the National Strike Coordinating Committee (NSCC) and signed by Dr. Christopher Piwuna over the weekend.
This development follows the two-week warning strike declared by ASUU last week, which has paralysed academic activities across public universities nationwide.
According to the bulletin, the union reported that discussions with the government had recorded progress in several areas, including the release of third-party deductions, payment of promotion arrears, mainstreaming of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA), and the resolution of land confiscation issues at the University of Abuja.

ASUU also noted progress on cases of alleged victimisation of its members at Kogi State University (KSU), Lagos State University (LASU), and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
“Our members have shown exemplary commitment to the struggle. We must remain united and resolute in the few days ahead,” the bulletin stated.
The union reaffirmed its determination to pursue its demands until meaningful progress is achieved in negotiations with the government.
