The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of turning governance in the state into a “festival of deception, propaganda, and self-praise.”
In a statement signed by Wande T. Ajayi, the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, the PDP alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state has relied heavily on blackmail and manipulation rather than transparency and good governance.
The opposition party challenged the state government to publish the list of contractors handling various projects, provide full payment records, and make public the actual status of the 2025 budget implementation if it has nothing to conceal.
Ajayi criticized what he described as the administration’s attempt to silence dissenting voices using threats and the Cybercrime Act, insisting that such tactics would not deter the PDP from exposing governance failures. He accused the government of focusing on image polishing while critical issues such as food insecurity, unemployment, and collapsing infrastructure continue to affect citizens.
“It is quite ironic for a government that has failed to justify its spending and meet basic obligations to now claim to be defending the truth,” Ajayi said. “What truth are they talking about? That governance is practically on autopilot? That major projects have stalled even as the state’s coffers swell? That our hospitals are deteriorating, schools are in poor condition, and Ondo South is becoming increasingly isolated?”
He further questioned the government’s response to ongoing crises. “AAUA has been shut down for two months, and students are threatening to protest. Those who have built their reputation on manipulation cannot suddenly present themselves as moral crusaders,” he added.
Ajayi vowed that the PDP would continue to expose what it sees as lies, waste, and hypocrisy within the Aiyedatiwa administration. “Truth is not upheld through intimidation but through action—and this government has failed that test miserably,” he said.

In response, Yomi Oyekan, Special Assistant to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Digital Media, dismissed the PDP’s accusations. He argued that the current administration is addressing long-standing problems that previous governments neglected.
“Ondo people have moved on,” Oyekan stated. “The state is making progress. Salaries and pensions are being paid, projects are underway, and people’s lives are improving. Opposition should be about constructive engagement, not recycled slogans and tantrums. The PDP should pay attention and learn, instead of seeking attention.”
