Fake Cop Jailed Eight Months in Kano

A Shari’a court in the Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State has sentenced a 33-year-old man, Nasiru Shitu, to eight months in prison for impersonating a police officer.

Shitu was arrested on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Kofar Dawanau around 5 p.m. while dressed in a police uniform.

He was arraigned before the court by the prosecution counsel, Barrister Zaharaddeen Mustapha, on a charge of impersonation, to which he pleaded guilty.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Khadi Nasiru Ahmad Muhammad, convicted Shitu and sentenced him to eight months imprisonment with an option of a ₦70,000 fine.

The judge also cautioned residents against acts that could mislead the public or undermine law enforcement efforts, stressing the importance of supporting security agencies to maintain order.
