Hostages Saved in Benue After Police Gunfight

The Benue State Police Command has successfully rescued four kidnapping

victims following a gun battle with their abductors along the Orokam–Owukpa road in Ogbadibo Local Government Area.

The operation was launched on September 25 after a distress call reported the presence of the kidnapped individuals near River Enumabia. The Divisional Police Officer promptly deployed tactical teams, who engaged the kidnappers and secured the release of the victims.

Those freed include Ogbonna Ifeanyi and Abubu Ogochukwu from Enugu Ezike, Caleb Mbah, a pharmacist from Ohebe Orba in Udenu LGA, Enugu State, and Ruth Chinemere, also from the same community. The victims received first aid at Orokam General Hospital before being reunited with their families.

Police sources revealed to Zagazola Makama that the kidnappers, who had earlier demanded a ₦5 million ransom, fled the scene with gunshot injuries, leaving the captives behind.
