Jigawa Police Nab Robbery, Drug Suspects

The Jigawa State Police Command says it has recorded significant successes in its ongoing fight against crime with the arrest of several suspects across different parts of the state.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday, September 25.

According to him, operatives in Auyo Division on September 17 apprehended a 22-year-old man, Lawan Ya’u of Kafur village, after he allegedly attacked a commercial motorcyclist with a knife in an attempt to steal his bike. The victim sustained neck injuries and was rushed to Hadejia General Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. The stolen motorcycle was recovered, and the suspect remains in custody.

On September 20, officers from the same division also arrested another suspect in Gamsarka village, Auyo LGA, for allegedly stealing a red Boxer motorcycle believed to have been taken from Auyo market.

In a separate incident in Gagarawa LGA, police arrested a 22-year-old suspect identified as Abdussalam, described as a “notorious thief” who had been terrorizing residents of Guard-line Quarters. Items recovered from him included three new wrappers, a long knife, a power bank, and a pair of scissors. He is currently under investigation.

The Command also carried out coordinated raids in Kazaure and Kanya Babba towns, leading to the arrest of four suspected drug dealers: Sulaiman Adamu (26), Usman Auwalu (25), Kamal Mohammed, Cillala, and Aliyu Abdullahi (25).

Recovered from them were 81 wraps of Indian hemp, 281 pieces of Exol tablets, 31 Diazepam pills, 10 rubber solutions, 4 Tramadol capsules, 4 Lara capsules, 2 suck-and-die substances, and ₦40,855 suspected to be proceeds of drug sales.

Commending the operatives, Commissioner of Police CP Dahiru Muhammad praised their professionalism and assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to tackling crime.

“We remain determined to make Jigawa State safer and more secure,” he said, urging members of the public to continue sharing credible information with the police.
