The arrest came just hours after Otukpo Local Government Chairman, Maxwell Ogiri, confirmed Ijachi’s assassination and pledged full cooperation with security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Reports indicate that Ijachi was shot dead in the early hours of Monday after armed men allegedly tracked him from an evening outing to his residence. Witnesses said the attackers arrived on motorcycles and fired at him at close range.

Police confirmed that the arrested suspect is currently undergoing questioning, while efforts continue to locate and apprehend the remaining members of the group responsible for the attack.
