The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a suspected cross-border drug trafficker and seized 11 cartons of illicit drugs near the Nigeria–Niger Republic border.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported on Thursday that the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Ibrahim Sa’adu from Kadangwaris village, was apprehended on September 16 around 9:00 a.m. during a stop-and-search operation at the Kwangolom checkpoint in Daura.

Sa’adu, who was driving a blue Toyota Carina with registration number DRA 31 AA, was allegedly attempting to cross into Niger Republic illegally when officers discovered the drugs hidden in the vehicle.

“On searching the car, 11 cartons of drugs were recovered. The suspect and the seized items have been handed over to the Mai-Adua Division for further investigation,” a source quoted by Makama confirmed.
