Legendary Star Robert Redford Dead at 89

The iconic actor, director, and producer died peacefully in his sleep early Tuesday at his Utah home, confirmed his longtime publicist, Cindi Berger. She added that Redford was surrounded by family at the time and requested privacy for his loved ones.

Born Charles Robert Redford Jr. on August 18, 1936, in Santa Monica, California, he gained worldwide fame with his role alongside Paul Newman in the 1969 Western Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Over a career spanning six decades, Redford became celebrated not only for his on-screen performances but also for his directorial achievements, including an Academy Award for Best Director.
