The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that two students were hospitalised following a violent cult clash in Iree on September 8, 2025.
Police spokesperson, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, said on Thursday that six suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident, while the injured students were receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
According to Ojelabi, members of the Buccaneers confraternity and a rival cult group were involved in the gun battle, which disrupted academic activities on campus. Acting on a directive from Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit arrested three suspects during the attack, with three more picked up the following day.

Ojelabi revealed that between August 16 and 18, 2025, two riders were assaulted and left unconscious after being lured to an ambush spot. Their motorcycles, cash, and personal items were stolen. Two stolen Boxer motorcycles were later recovered.
Other suspects arrested across the operations include Oluwadamilare Temitope, Ayodeji John, Adepoju Adesoji, Yusuf Abeeb, Fatai Quadri, and Lateef Abiodun.
The police spokesperson added that investigations were ongoing, and all suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion.
