PDP Governors Defend Zamfara Meeting, Fault ADC Over Criticism
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has defended its meeting held on Saturday in Gusau, Zamfara State, dismissing the African Democratic Congress (ADC)’s criticism as an attempt to politicise insecurity.
The meeting was convened days after deadly attacks in parts of Zamfara left several residents dead.
In a statement, ADC accused the governors of insensitivity, urging President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in the state. The party’s spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, condemned photos of PDP governors “grinning for the camera in full ceremonial robes” while communities mourned.

Responding, the PDP Governors’ Forum clarified that the Gusau gathering was a pre-scheduled engagement focused on national issues, including insecurity.
Forum Director-General, Emmanuel Agbo, said the governors commended Zamfara’s efforts against insecurity while condemning ongoing killings in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, Benue and other states. They also urged the federal government to take stronger action.
The forum further criticised ADC for what it described as a “lack of understanding,” insisting the opposition party must show genuine remorse if it truly seeks reconciliation with the PDP.
