Authorities in Anambra State have arrested a 45-year-old Chinese national, identified as Mr. Mu Hua Qiang, over alleged involvement in illegal mining activities.
Qiang, a resident of Aguleri, was apprehended on Friday, August 22, 2025, during a surveillance operation carried out by operatives of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade in the Aguleri axis.
Confirming the arrest, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for further investigation.
“The Anambra State Police Command, through operatives of the SCID, received the suspect from the OCHA Brigade. His statement has been obtained, and he remains in lawful custody while investigations continue,” Ikenga stated.
He assured that updates on the case would be provided as investigations progress.
