Social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused the Dangote Group of neglecting a 22-year-old woman who was allegedly crushed by one of the company’s truck drivers in Auchi, Edo State.

In a video shared on his Instagram story Monday, VDM showed the victim receiving treatment at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, where she has reportedly been admitted for 11 months with medical bills exceeding ₦5 million.

The activist claimed the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was on her way to submit her academic project when she was hit by a Dangote truck. He alleged that the company has abandoned her care.

VDM, who said he joined a protest against Dangote trucks in Auchi, demanded that the conglomerate take responsibility for all victims of accidents linked to its drivers.

“We met a 22-year-old girl abandoned in Irrua Specialist Hospital by Dangote’s unlicensed driver. She has been in hospital for nearly a year with bills over ₦5 million. Dangote has abandoned her. Until all victims are taken care of, no Dangote truck will be allowed in Auchi,” he declared.

As of press time, Dangote Group has not responded to the latest allegation.

The development comes just days after BBNaija Season 7 winner, Phyna Otabor, called out the company after her sister, Ruth, was also injured in a similar incident in Auchi. Dangote Group, however, announced three days ago that it would cover Ruth’s medical expenses.

The controversy coincides with preparations by Dangote Refinery to roll out 4,000 new compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks for nationwide fuel distribution — a scheme initially scheduled to begin on August 15, 2025, but delayed due to logistical issues, according to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).
