The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the distribution of sensitive election materials — including ballot papers and result sheets — to Remo North, Ikenne, and Sagamu Local Government Areas ahead of the August 16 bye-election in Remo Federal Constituency, Ogun State.
The election, scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, will fill the seat left vacant by the late Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who passed away in January after a brief illness.

Ogun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mrs. Saseyi Feyijimi, oversaw the dispatch of materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Abeokuta zonal office. She assured that the process would be transparent, stressing that all 2,445 trained officers for the election had been cautioned against any form of misconduct.
“We promise to be fair, just, and open to all,” she said. “If you are on the queue at the close of voting, you will still be allowed to cast your ballot. Our BIVAS machines are ready, with backups in place.”
The movement of materials was monitored by security agencies and representatives of the three participating political parties — Olusegun Bankole (APC), Afolabi Orekoya (PDP), and Ayodeji Daodu (ACCORD).
Feyijimi also warned that INEC would not shield any staff member found guilty of infractions, urging all personnel to maintain discipline and uphold the credibility of the process.
