Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has flagged off the construction of the Karatudu–Romi road in Chikun Local Government Area, marking the revival of a project abandoned for 13 years by successive administrations.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the governor recalled that the late Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa had originally awarded the contract, but work stalled after his death.
Governor Sani underscored the importance of the road to residents of Karatudu and Unguwan Romi, noting that his administration prioritises development in rural and underserved communities.

He assured that the project — to be handled by a reputable contractor — would be completed within eight months, with work set to begin immediately.
“Our government keeps to its promises. We don’t play politics of deceit. In just over two years, we have awarded over 83 road contracts and completed 31 of them,” he said. “Politics is not about propaganda, it’s about delivering meaningful projects that improve lives.”
The Karatudu project will also cover key township roads in the area, including Cemetery Road, Lusawa Road, School Road to Karatudu, and Jema’a Road. It will connect Romi community to Karatudu, complementing ongoing works from Keke to Makera and Doka Mai Jema’a to Dan Hono in Kujama Ward.
Governor Sani further announced that the Water Intake Road from Unguwan Mai Gero to Narayi has been completed, while construction of a new link from Zenith Bank Roundabout on Kachia Road to Flour Mill, connecting Chikun and Kaduna South LGAs, will begin within a week.
He also confirmed that funds have been released for the long-abandoned Television Garage to Sabon Tasha road, which links four electoral wards, with work scheduled to start next week.
