Police Arrest 63-Year-Old Woman for Alleged Inter-State Child Trafficking in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 63-year-old woman, Ngozi Muotuanya, over alleged involvement in inter-state child trafficking.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was apprehended by operatives attached to the Oba Division on August 11, 2025, following credible intelligence.

“In a decisive move to unravel the mysterious disappearance of children in the state, especially in Oba and its environs, police operatives attached to the Oba Division apprehended one Ngozi Muotuanya, a female from Awkuzu-Oba,” Ikenga stated.

The police spokesperson added that the case has been linked to a child’s custodian in Minna, Niger State, and that information has been forwarded to the Niger State Police Command for further action.

The police said efforts are ongoing to facilitate the recovery of the child and reunite them with their parents, while investigations continue.
