Opposition Losing Ground in Jigawa Due to APC’s Development Strides – Governor Namadi

Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has declared that opposition parties in the state are steadily losing relevance as a result of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration’s developmental achievements and people-focused policies.

Speaking on Monday at the official flag-off of the APC campaign for the Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election, scheduled for August 16, 2025, Governor Namadi said the administration’s track record has “crippled and silenced” opposition voices in the state.

“What I saw today, travelling from Garki to Babura—APC posters and billboards everywhere—clearly shows that the people of Jigawa still see APC as their party of choice,” the governor said.

The upcoming poll follows the passing of the constituency’s former representative, Hon. Isah Dogon Yaro. Namadi described the by-election as an opportunity to honour Dogon Yaro’s memory by continuing “the work of progress and service he stood for.”

The governor called on eligible voters in Babura and Garki to come out in large numbers on Saturday to vote for the APC, pledging that the party would continue to build a stronger and more prosperous Jigawa State.

APC candidate for the by-election, Hon. Rabiu Mukhtar, expressed appreciation to God, the governor, and party stakeholders for what he described as a transparent and inclusive selection process. He promised to work closely with party leaders to secure a decisive victory in the election.
