Severe Flooding Hits Dugwaba District in Adamawa, Communities Cut Off

Just days after a deadly flood struck parts of Yola, another wave of devastation has hit Adamawa State—this time in Dugwaba District of Hong Local Government Area.

Triggered by intense and prolonged rainfall, the flood swept through Dugwaba and nearby communities, causing widespread destruction. Local sources described the downpour as relentless, leading to submerged homes, destroyed farmlands, and impassable roads.

The flood, which struck on Wednesday, has severed access between Dugwaba and neighboring settlements, including Yadul District. Key roadways connecting the area to Garaha, Mojili, and other nearby towns have been washed out, effectively isolating entire communities.

While no casualties have been confirmed as of Wednesday evening, the scale of damage has raised alarm. The District Head of Dugwaba, Simon Buba Yakubu, has issued an urgent appeal for immediate assistance to aid displaced residents and restore vital access routes.

This latest disaster comes less than two weeks after flash floods in Yola claimed 29 lives, as confirmed by Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta on August 5, 2025.

As the region reels from back-to-back flooding events, authorities are being urged to provide swift relief and long-term solutions to protect vulnerable communities from future disasters.
