ASR Africa Wraps Up Fourth Mentorship Cycle at Babcock University

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) has successfully concluded the fourth edition of its three-month mentorship program at Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State. This latest cycle ended with a closeout ceremony that celebrated the achievements of participating female students drawn from diverse academic disciplines.

Launched on May 27, 2025, the initiative at Babcock University was crafted to prepare final-year female students for life after graduation. Anchored in the university’s core principles of excellence, integrity, and service, the program connected students with seasoned academics and industry professionals. Mentorship covered key areas such as career readiness, time and financial management, personal development, and strategic goal-setting.

During the closing event, Dr. Ubon Udoh, Managing Director and CEO of ASR Africa, presented awards to the mentees and reaffirmed the organization’s belief in the transformative power of mentorship. He commended Babcock University’s administration for integrating the program into its extracurricular offerings and supporting the growth of its students beyond academics.

Throughout the program, participants engaged in both group sessions and personalized mentoring across a range of fields, including entrepreneurship, mental wellness, media advocacy, leadership, and public service. The curriculum emphasized practical tools for career progression, personal clarity, and self-confidence. Feedback from participants highlighted the program’s positive impact on their readiness for life beyond the university walls.

Babcock University joins a growing list of institutions that have benefitted from the ASR Africa mentorship initiative, which also includes the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Gusau, Al-Qalam University in Katsina State, and the University of Zambia (UNZA), showcasing the program’s broader continental reach.
