Disregarding ADC Coalition Would Be a Costly Mistake for APC – Sumner Sambo
Arise Television’s Director of News and Politics Editor, Sumner Sambo, has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be making a serious miscalculation by underestimating the growing opposition alliance led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking on Monday during an appearance on The Morning Show, a flagship program on Arise TV, Sambo noted that internal divisions and growing dissatisfaction within the APC have made it vulnerable ahead of the 2027 elections.
He emphasized that the ruling party cannot afford to overlook the momentum building around the ADC-led coalition, which is fast becoming a rallying point for disenchanted political actors and citizens alike.
Sumner Sambo, Director of News and Politics at Arise Television, has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against dismissing the growing opposition coalition now operating under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) banner.
Appearing on The Morning Show, a political affairs program aired on Arise TV, Sambo said on Monday that internal rifts within the APC, combined with the increasing traction of the ADC-led coalition, could pose a serious challenge to the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
“There’s growing discontent inside the APC,” Sambo noted. “People once doubted APC at its inception, but it went on to win power. A similar underestimation of the ADC coalition could prove costly. While the ADC has its internal issues, those in the ruling party would be wise to tread carefully.”
His remarks come in the wake of the July 2 announcement that the opposition coalition had formally adopted the African Democratic Congress as its political platform for the 2027 elections. The coalition also named former Senate President David Mark as its national chairman and former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, as national secretary.
Sambo’s comments highlight the shifting political landscape and growing uncertainty within Nigeria’s ruling party as new alliances emerge.
