EKEDC and Ikeja Electric Announce Three-Week Planned Power Interruption for Maintenance
The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric have jointly announced a planned three-week electricity outage starting Monday, July 28, 2025. The scheduled disruption is necessary to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to undertake critical repairs on a major transmission line.
In an official statement released on their verified Twitter accounts, both electricity providers revealed that power will be interrupted daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Thursday, August 21, 2025. The outage is to facilitate urgent maintenance on the 330kV Omotosho–Ikeja West transmission line—an essential component in the national grid system.
The affected transmission line plays a pivotal role in delivering electricity to Lagos and surrounding areas. As a result, residents and businesses within EKEDC and Ikeja Electric’s operational zones should expect irregular power supply and load shedding throughout the maintenance window.
