Floods, Storms Displace Families, Devastate Homes in Kogi and Kebbi
Communities in Kogi and Kebbi states are reeling from the aftermath of intense flooding and rainstorms that have destroyed more than 500 homes, displacing numerous families and inflicting widespread loss on properties and livestock.
In Kabba, the administrative center of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State, continuous downpours led to the submergence of hundreds of houses, compounding the suffering of affected residents.

The disaster followed an unrelenting three-day downpour that caused nearby streams and waterways to burst their banks, unleashing floods that swept through several communities with severe impact.
Idde-Iyah, a neighborhood within Kabba town, was among the hardest hit. Locals recounted how the rains, which began late Wednesday, continued through the weekend, submerging homes and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

Rainstorm Ravages Kebbi Communities as Kogi Awaits Damage Report
An official from the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) confirmed the agency’s awareness of the incident but noted that a full assessment of the damage was still underway.
Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, a violent rainstorm tore through Zogirma in Bunza Local Government Area, destroying at least 60 homes. The storm, which raged for more than three hours, also led to flooding in four villages within Arewa LGA—Tungar Chindo, Tungar Kure, Feske Malabawa, and Feske Rafi.
Residents reported that the deluge claimed livestock, razed property worth hundreds of thousands of naira, and left many injured. Survivors have since sought shelter in nearby public facilities.
Bunza LGA Secretary, Malam Muhammed Umar Mawo, who visited affected families, assured them of relief efforts. He pledged to compile a detailed report for submission to the Kebbi State Government to facilitate emergency intervention.
