Prominent African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dele Momodu, has downplayed rumours that former President Goodluck Jonathan is preparing to contest the 2027 presidential election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, Momodu argued that entrenched forces within the PDP remain opposed to Jonathan’s possible comeback.

He further clarified that recent political meetings—such as Jonathan’s interaction with former Anambra State governor Peter Obi—should not be overinterpreted as evidence of an alliance, stressing that politicians often meet for various reasons.
“People speculate too much. When Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso met with President Bola Tinubu, people quickly concluded he was dumping NNPP for APC. That’s not how politics works. This is a time for strategy, not noise,” Momodu said.
He maintained that if consensus cannot be reached within parties, internal democracy through primaries should determine candidates.
