The Jigawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that members who undermine party unity or show disrespect to Governor Umar Namadi and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will face sanctions.

State Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Dahiru Jahun, made the announcement while leading a delegation of party executives and local government chairmen from all 27 councils to the Government House to reaffirm loyalty to the governor.

During the visit, Jahun described Governor Namadi as the undisputed leader of the APC in Jigawa State and reiterated the party’s full backing of both Namadi and President Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

The delegation praised the governor’s administration for what they called “remarkable transformation and historic achievements” within just two years, highlighting the progress made in Jigawa’s development. Jahun also stressed that any member acting against party unity or disrespecting leadership would not be tolerated.

“Our loyalty to the governor is like that of the comical character ‘Maha’ to his teacher; without objection, whatever Malam says, we will follow,” Jahun stated.

In response, Governor Namadi thanked the party leaders for their support, promising continued cooperation and reaffirming his commitment to fair treatment of all party members. He also emphasized that both federal and state APC governments are focused on people-centered policies and developmental projects.

The visit comes amid growing tensions within the Jigawa APC between factions loyal to former Governor and current Minister of Defence Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and those supporting Governor Namadi. The dispute, simmering since the 2023 transition of power, has recently escalated, with supporters of both camps exchanging strong words, raising concerns about the party’s unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Observers warn that if the rift is not carefully managed, it could weaken the APC’s grip on Jigawa, though neither Namadi nor Badaru has publicly addressed the crisis.
