Former aide to ex-Vice President Namadi Sambo, Umar Sani, has responded to Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola’s threat of a ₦1 billion libel suit.
Earlier, Otedola instructed his lawyers to file the suit against Sani over comments linking him to alleged fuel subsidy fraud during ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. The businessman had described Sani’s remarks as “malicious lies.”
Reacting via his official X handle on Monday, Sani dismissed the threat, insisting that Nigerians of good conscience should have no fear of approaching the courts.

“I will be on Arise TV at 3 p.m. to respond to these assertions. The courts are institutions no Nigerian of good conscience should ever fear to approach,” he wrote.
Otedola had earlier claimed that ₦2 trillion was siphoned through questionable subsidy claims under Jonathan’s government.
In a counter-response, Sani accused Otedola of hypocrisy, describing his claims as a “selective and convenient rewriting of history,” while alleging that the billionaire himself benefitted from the subsidy regime.
